Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is this brick wall calculator?

The calculator provides ±5% accuracy for straight rectangular walls. Complex shapes (curves, multiple openings, arches) may have higher variation. Always order 5-10% extra for safety. Get a formal BOQ from Sunshine Contractors for precision.

What's the difference between 4.5", 9", and 13.5" walls?

4.5" walls are single-brick interior partitions. 9" walls are double-brick standard exterior walls — load-bearing for most homes. 13.5" walls are triple-brick boundary walls or high-load applications.

How much cement do I need per 1000 bricks?

For standard 1:6 mortar ratio: approximately 2 cement bags (50kg each) per 1000 bricks. With 1:4 ratio, need ~3 bags. The calculator does this math automatically.

What is the standard brick size in Pakistan?

Standard Pakistani brick: 9" × 4.5" × 3". Our calculator uses this size. Some manufacturers also make smaller modular bricks (7.5" × 3.5" × 2.25") — verify with your supplier.

Should I add wastage allowance?

Yes — the calculator already includes 5% wastage in calculations. Pakistani site practice is to order 5-10% extra to cover cutting, breakage, and corner cuts. For complex designs, allow 10-15%.

Can I use this for boundary walls?

Yes. Select 13.5" thickness for boundary walls. Also remember boundary walls need: pillars every 10-12 feet, foundation depth, plaster on both sides, and (often) coping at top. The calculator gives you bricks + mortar; for full estimate including foundation, use our construction cost calculator.

Where can I buy bricks in bulk?

Most Punjabi cities have brick kilns on outskirts. Major Pakistani cities (Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi) have multiple suppliers. For verified suppliers offering bulk discounts, Sunshine Contractors maintains a network — we can source bricks at competitive rates for projects we manage.
